MOVIE OF THE WEEK - RUNAWAY JURY
Described by some as the Bard of the courthouse, John Grisham has captivated a generation with his legal sagas filled with electrifying potency. With an eye popping cast, Runaway Jury bursts onto the screen with the abrupt ‘thwack’ of a judges gavel. Dustin Hoffman, Gene Hackman and Rachel Weisz ensure cinema purists will be satisfied, but it’s John Cusack who steals the show. Playing Nicholas Easter, a shifty Juror with a sharp edge, Cusack delivers a performance for the ages; he has quite simply, never been better. As the film reaches its heady climax, the mastery of director, Gary Fleder, seems effortless and unobtainable in equal measure, and he stakes his claim as the best director of all time. Runaway Jury is not only unmissable, but, in essence, cinematic perfection [4/5].
